The Fresh Market to host 22nd annual Sidewalk Sale benefiting JDRF June 3-5

“Hope Floats” supports efforts to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes

The Fresh Market will celebrate the 22nd anniversary of its annual “Hope Floats” Sidewalk Sale June 3-5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily to benefit JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Each of The Fresh Market’s 175 stores will offer hot dogs, root beer floats and ice cream sundaes (regular and sugar-free), each for a $2 donation. The Fresh Market will donate 100 percent of the funds raised over the three-day sale directly to JDRF to support its research efforts.

“Today 1.25 million American men, women and children live with type 1 diabetes, a disease that continues to impact communities across the country,” said Rick Anicetti, the company’s chief executive officer. “The Fresh Market is dedicated to raising awareness and necessary funds for research in hopes to one day find a cure. We are honored to once again team up with JDRF to help combat type 1 diabetes with our 22nd annual JDRF Sidewalk Sale.”

In addition to the Sidewalk Sale, The Fresh Market is hosting a JDRF Sneaker Sale campaign from May 18 through June 5. Customers can make a donation by purchasing green paper sneakers at The Fresh Market’s checkout counters to show support. Since every penny counts, JDRF Collection Containers are also placed at each checkout counter.

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the partnership between The Fresh Market and JDRF, raising both funds and awareness to create a world without T1D.  The Fresh Market is proud to have raised over $4.5 million to date for JDRF through its annual Paper Sneaker and Sidewalk Sale, corporate donations, and other fundraising events.

”Since 1994, The Fresh Market has shown a commitment to our vision of a world without type 1 diabetes,” said Margo K. Lucero, senior vice president, corporate and international development of JDRF. “Not only has The Fresh Market raised $4.5 million over the past 22 years, but the consistency of their entire team to support turning Type One into Type None has provided invaluable support to our efforts and the type 1 diabetes community.”
