Curious to know how to keep peaches ripe? Follow this fresh foodie tip:
Choose soft peaches to eat now and firmer peaches to eat later. Only put stone fruit in the refrigerator to slow the ripening. Store on the counter or in a paper bag to speed up ripening.
About McLeod Farms
The orchards have been in the McLeod family since 1916. Owner Kemp McLeod represents the fourth generation to work the family orchards. He learned the operation from his father, Campbell McLeod. The McLeod’s operate one of the largest peach orchards in the area, with 650 acres in production. The farm grows 22 varieties of peaches on the sandy, loam soils surrounding the small town of McBee, South Carolina.
About Pearson Farms
For five generations the Pearson family has farmed the red clay of Crawford County, Georgia. Pearson Farm consists of 1400 acres of peaches. They grow over 30 varieties of peaches, all selected for their growing area and soil. Building off of the experience of each generation, the Pearson family has gained a reputation for growing some of the sweetest and juiciest peaches in the country.
