The Fresh Market announces goal of 100% cage-free eggs by 2020
The Fresh Market announced today that it will work with its suppliers to reach a 100 percent cage-free shell egg offering for its stores by 2020.
The Fresh Market carries a variety of eggs in order to provide its customers with choices, and has been a leader in providing cage-free eggs for its customers. Currently, 100 percent of The Fresh Market’s private brand eggs are cage-free, and 86% of its total current offering is sourced from cage-free hens.
“Our customers have responded positively to the increasing number of cage-free, pasture-raised, and organic options in our shell egg offering,” said Pamela Kohn, EVP and chief merchandising officer for The Fresh Market. “We look forward to continuing on the path toward 100 percent cage-free eggs and providing our customers with a growing variety of responsibly-sourced eggs.”
